Eat Game Awards – please vote for Apley Estate Smoked Pheasant

The Eat Game Awards close on 30 Sept. If you’ve not already done so, please could you vote for Apley’s very own, unique & delicious Smoked Pheasant. It’s won one award so far, but we’d really like it to win this one too ! Just click HERE – it only takes 5 seconds ! We’re in the 5th category: Best Added Value Game Meat Product. Just press NEXT four times, then select Apley Farm Shop (please!). Be sure to click on the SUBMIT button !

It’s for sale in the Food Hall at Apley Farm Shop (fresh or frozen, all year round) & on ApleyOnline.com. Great as a canape, picnic food, salads, quick lunch or light supper.

The Best Added Value Game Meat Product is sponsored by The Field magazine.

We’ve just won a silver award in class 2 of the British Charcuterie awards but would really like to win this one too!

It’s smoked only one hour away from Apley, by Macneil’s Smokehouse who have won so many awards for everything they create, I’ve now lost count. We sell their products in Apley Farm Shop (TF11 9EF, open 7 days pw).

Here’s a great Apley Smoked Pheasant recipe which is part of a “Quick & Easy Game Recipes” booklet published by Taste of Game.  PS. There’s a typo – it should be Apley Estate’s Smoked Pheasant, not Apley Farms.

Here are a few benefits of eating game meat:

  • Low in fat & cholesterol, high in protein
  • It’s a very lean meat, as they wild & roam freely, so they don’t store much fat
  • Live in natural landscapes, feeding on natural diets, which give the distinctive taste (strong in some cases, but very mild & different in our Smoked Pheasant)
  • Much conservation work happens around the management of game which benefits other species too & helps to preserve woodlands
