What’s on in May at Apley Farm Shop – short film

2015-04-23, What's in season MayClick HERE to see a short film of What’s on in May at Apley Farm Shop, Shropshire.

To eat really seasonally, you’ll find at Apley Farm Shop wild garlic fthe Apley woods, asparagus from 12 miles away in Quatt, south of Bridgnorth, salad leaves & rhubarb from Apley Walled Gardens & locally sourced cauliflower & chives.

Adrian Joynt, Apley’s Farm Manager, gave me a farming update earlier this week: They’ve finished calving—104 heffer & 73 bull calves from 176 cows. They’re still fencing & still fertilising corn & grassland.

This morning Shropshire’s NFU (National Farmer’s Union) called me to plan an evening barbecue & presentation about Wagyu (pronounced waggy, like dogs) beef from the Wagyu breed of Japanese cattle. More on that soon.  We hire out The Creamery Café & Corn Loft Conference Room for out of hours events – lovely for any event from birthdays & christenings to business meetings.
