Apley’s links with Harper Adams University
For many years, the Apley Estate has had close links with Harper Adams University, near Newport, Shropshire – eg. our Assistant Land Agent is an ex Harper student. In the 4 years Apley Farm shop has been open, it too has directly had links with the university, the latest of which will be next week when Richard Byrne is bringing a student group next week. It’ll be one of a series of visits he’s organising as part of a European Food Masters course run at Harper. The group want to see Apley’s food outlets & our other diversifications. They are drawn principally from a number of EU countries, plus a few UK students & a few from further afield. We’ll be explaining how our site operates, relationships with our suppliers, our ethos, but also the huge diversity & potential of ‘real’ food.
Also from Harper Adams University, Gavin recently meet a final year student studying food, Nutrition & Well-being. She was researching her dissertation was to evaluate how successful & useful loyalty schemes can be for farm shops. She was looking at farm shops with (like Apley) & without loyalty schemes to get a better understanding of farm shop customer bases & whether loyalty schemes are worthwhile in small businesses.
