2015-04-02, Easter Sunday Lunch menuToday, on Easter Sunday, our head chef Martin & his team in The Creamery Cafe will be busy cooking up many Easter Sunday lunches. He told me his Spring vegetable soup gives customers a real taste of Apley Walled Garden & to show off the new burst of colour he has diced & lightly roasted vegetables with a light drizzle of olive oil, crushed garlic & fresh herbs. From the Easter menu (below), try Martin’s handmade chicken liver pate as a starter, followed by roast turkey, spring lamb or local venison. They’re all served with their own gravy, goose fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & seasonal vegetables – always sourced from the Walled Garden whenever available.

Yesterday, Apley Farm Shop held its Spring Craft Fair in the Courtyard, when it was the turn of Margaret Herraty of The Craft Hole makes cards & gifts who gave demonstrations of quilling / paper filigree at 12 & 2pm. To see more of her work, click HERE. Next month, our Crafter of the month [May] will be Jodie of Sacred Realms who make clothes in vintage styles, especially dresses & children’s clothing. She did a fashion design degree at Derby University before setting up business.

The Farm Shop itself is shut, but the Creamery & Playbarn will be open, as will Scotty’s Animals. Then on Easter [bank holiday] Monday, the whole site is open as usual 10-4pm.

Spring is in the air at Apley – look at this lovely apricot blossom in the courtyard. I’m sure the birds are singing louder & daffodils & primroses are everywhere. I’ve spotted celandines & dog’s mercury too this weekend.
