Food news from Apley Farm Shop – Cafe, Deli, Bakery

Martin McKee has been chef in The Creamery Café at Apley Farm Shop since Nov 2013 (check). He’s clearly doing a good job as we’ve had lots of compliments recently including this one from a friend: “I must tell you had a fab breakfast at Apley with my friend on Saturday, and we were able to sit out such a lovely morning.  I noticed Lottie’s have a fashion show in June. Will be there. Love their clothes.”

Our Specials menu in The Creamery Café changes all the time, allowing the chefs to use whatever is most seasonal, fresh & local, particularly following the Apley Walled Garden produce supplies.

To give you a taster (sorry for the pun !), here’s the Special’s menu from Sunday 1 June:

  • Carrot & coriander soup with Trow’s freshly baked bread – £4.25
  • Roast Apley Estate beef with handmade Yorkshire pudding, red wine & thyme gravy & Apley Walled Garden seasonal vegetables – £8.95
  • Roast Staffordshire pork with crisped crackling a Hobson’s cider jus & Apley Walled Garden seasonal vegetables – £8.95
  • Stuffed field mushrooms with Perl Wen spring onion & cherry tomatoes, served with breaded goat’s chesse & roasted Apley Walled Garden vegetables – £8.95
  • Handmade treacle tart with Mawley Farm double cream – £3.95

We have a Summer drinks menu of smoothies (mixed fruit), iced frappes (5 flavours) & cold drinks including freshly squeezed lemonade & handmade iced tea.

Cheese of the week is Lightwood’s Chaser & Little Urn—both from Heath Grange Farm, Worcester

Julie’s cake of the week is carrot & cream cheese cake

Listen out for BBC Radio Shropshire featuring the Apley Cookery Club & the foraging walk, taking place this Saturday 7 June in Apley Park, by special permission (as it’s strictly private). Meet Bob Thomas at the Farm Shop 10am. You’ll be back by approx. 11.30am. If heavy rain, Bob will give a foraging talk in the Conference Room. All welcome. Exceptionally this month, there will be a £2 charge.
